With nearly 15 years of experience in the dental field so far, Dr. Chouinard is proud to be carrying on this practice’s outstanding, 40+ year legacy that was first established by Dr. Steven Nast. He really enjoys interacting closely with patients, getting to know their different personalities and helping make a potentially terrifying experience tolerable and even pleasant! Dr. Chouinard actually grew up surrounded by the field of medicine—his mother was a Registered Nurse and his father was a physician. Once he got to college, though, he decided that he wanted to take a slightly different path for his own career. Growing up his neighbor, Dr. Nast, was a dentist, and he let Dr. Chouinard shadow him one summer. This experience showed him that he could succeed in the oral healthcare world and even become his own boss while still helping others and providing for his family in a small-town setting.
After attending Truman State University for his undergraduate degree, Dr. Chouinard pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City; following graduation, he spent a year working at a community health clinic in Cape Girardeau before joining Dr. Nast’s private practice. Along the way, he’s pursued a great deal of continuing education to further expand his skills, including occlusion courses with Dr. Dawson, numerous dental implant courses and seminars, and CEREC Level 1 & 2 training. He is currently a member of the following dental organizations:
Dr. Chouinard is a born-and-raised native of the Sikeston community, and so is his wife Chrissy. Their parents still live here too! He also has a stepson named Kaeden, who is currently in high school. When he isn’t busy caring for patients, you can usually find him hunting, fishing, boating, running, and taking trips when possible to snow ski and swim at the beach. He also really enjoys gardening after getting home from work.
